The European Union Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF) launched a new funding opportunity for diaspora organications based in Europe to implement development projects in the country of origin. The deadline to apply is 15 January 2025.
Building on the first phase of the project, which focused on capacity development for diaspora organisations, EUDiF introduces the Diaspora 4 Development (D4D) Grants. These grants aim to empower diaspora organisations to drive sustainable change and development in their home countries.
Diasporas are established leaders in driving development by shaping resilient and inclusive communities worldwide and combining innovative ideas with intercultural knowledge and understanding of local needs. However, funding such work is a recurrent challenge. Providing €580,000 worth of grants for diaspora-led development projects is a recognition of the incredible impact of diasporas and an acknowledgement of the inherent challenges in accessing financing and implementing in dynamic contexts.
Diaspora organisations from countries listed in the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) regulation and based in EU member states, Switzerland, or Norway are invited to apply. An application can be made for a grant from €25,000 to €60,000. This range allows applicants the flexibility to tailor their projects based on local needs and available resources as well as implementing capacity, giving diaspora organisations the opportunity to bring their ideas to life on their terms. The D4D Grants are for projects in the countries of origin that address crucial areas like climate, economy, education, and health – areas which have proven growth potential for diaspora contributions.
Full details on the call are available via the call for application guidelines in English and French. For any questions about the call for proposals, please submit a clarification form. The results of the selection of successful candidates will be announced in April 2025.
