Summary
Towards the expiration of this 2011-2015 strategic plan, the GIS approached the Demand Driven Facility of the “Support for Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa” (FMM West Africa) project, for support in the: evaluation of the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan; and the drafting of a new Five-Year (5) Strategic Plan.
Consequently, from 19-21 April 2016, a workshop took place at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Accra, Ghana, to review the 2011-2015 GIS strategic plan. This workshop brought together key GIS management staff, GIS regional commanders as well as the Commandants and Commanding Officers of the Immigration Training School and Academy. During the three (03) day workshop, the participants evaluated the performance of the GIS 2011-2015 strategic plan; highlighting good practices, lessons learnt and challenges encountered in the course of implementation.
The workshop to evaluate the implementation status of the 2011-2015 GIS strategic plan was supported by the Demand Driven Facility (DDF) of the EU and ECOWAS funded project, “Support to Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa” (FMM West Africa). The DDF is providing technical assistance to the Ghana Immigration Service for the evaluation of the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan and the subsequent development of a new Five-Year (5) Strategic Plan for the GIS.
