Summary
The "Migration Awareness, Access to Reintegration, and Strengthening capacities in Iraq (MAARC)" project is funded by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration and implemented by ICMPD. The project focuses on the setup and operationalisation of a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Erbil, which serves as a one-stop-shop responding to the needs of potential, outgoing, and returning migrants, helping them make informed and safe migration decisions.
The MRC will provide an array of services, including counselling, outreach, and referral. Additionally, it will increase the capacity of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in migration management by providing information through their participation in awareness-raising and knowledge-building activities on migration.
The MRC setup and functionalities are ensured in coordination with the Joint Crisis and Coordination Centre, supported by the Ministry of the Interior in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Programmatically, the work of MRC-Erbil contributes to the implementation of the Vision on Sustainable Reintegration of Returnees in Iraq and its Action Plan, produced in a joint collaborative effort amongst the governmental and non-governmental entities in Iraq as part of the whole of government and whole of society approach, with the support of ICMPD.

Overall objective
Contribute to increased awareness and access to services on migration – including referrals, return, and reintegration – for outgoing, intending, and returning migrants in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I), and to strengthened capacities of the duty bearers amongst the Government of Iraq (GoI) and of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in migration management.
