From 22 – 24 September, ICMPD in the framework of the ReConnect project, held the Second Return Counselling Training for the stakeholders of the National Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (NAVRR), the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM), its provincial departments and the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC).
The training covered an induction to international law and fundamental rights, in-depth analysis of the Turkish NAVRR Regulation, psychological elements in counselling, interviewing techniques in counselling and effective communication techniques in return counselling. The participants from the DGMM, its provincial departments and TRC were given a thorough training and a discussion platform on important elements of return counselling and were presented with sample cases aimed to further improve their capacities in counselling to strengthen the implementation of Turkey’s NAVRR programme. The training is held under ICMPD’s Supporting the Development of Return Counselling Capacities in Turkey (ReCONNECT) project, funded by Switzerland and implemented in cooperation with the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM).
