NAVRR project facilitates meeting between Turkish and Pakistani authorities

On 08 - 11 November 2021, the NAVRR project organised a mission to Islamabad (Pakistan) for Turkish authorities to strengthen their cooperation in the area of migration with the authorities of Pakistan.

The stakeholders of the ICMPD supported National Assisted Voluntary Return & Reintegration system (NAVRR); the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) travelled for a four-day mission to Islamabad, Pakistan to discuss migration cooperation in general and combatting irregular migration and increasing voluntary return in specific.

The representatives of Turkish institutions met with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) to present the newly established NAVRR and discussed cooperation in return matters, combatting irregular migration and improving coordination on migration management.

The Turkish delegation also met with reintegration partners such as WELDO & IRARA as well as Pakistan Red Crescent Society for future approaches to ensure sustainable reintegration of Pakistani returnees.

The activity is held under ICMPD’s Supporting the Implementation and further Strengthening of Turkey’s National Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration System (NAVRR) Project, funded by Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway and implemented by ICMPD in cooperation with the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) and Turkish Red Crescent.
