A ceremony for the signing of Country Cooperation Agreement between Pakistan and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) took place at the Embassy of Pakistan, Vienna, Austria on 10 November 2020.
The agreement was signed by Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher and Michael Spindelegger, ICMPD Director General. It will institutionalise and streamline practical cooperation between Pakistan and ICMPD.
The focus is on promoting legal migration and mobility, supporting integration of Pakistani migrants abroad, fighting discrimination, racism Islamophobia and xenophobia, strengthening of positive impact of migration on development of Pakistan, enhanced border management, and prevention of irregular migration, including smuggling of migrants and trafficking in persons.
