On 29 April, ICMPD and the American Business Council organised the virtual round table “Investment opportunities in Nigeria”. The round table was hosted by ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger.
The roundtable was attended by Nigerian representatives, international business stakeholders as well as representatives of other organisations and academia. The meeting took place in the framework of the ESME (Eco-Social Market Economy) initiative, developed by ICMPD in cooperation with European private sector partners. The initiative seeks to improve the Nigerian business environment, create jobs and training opportunities for Nigeria’s youth and to tackle some of the root causes of irregular migration. American SME investors had the opportunity to get to know the project and connect with local and international stakeholders.
The virtual round table’s primary objective was to promote the ESME initiative and increase the outreach effort to attract additional investors/companies/partners for the Business Park and the Centre of Practical Skills alike. With 36 representatives from renowned companies actively participating in the virtual round table, a lively discussion following the presentation and follow-up inquiries regarding details on investment opportunities the event fulfilled all expectations.
