Launched in 2023 and financed by the EU, the three-year European Union Scholarships Project aims to create a lasting impact on higher education students in Türkiye by providing financial assistance for education, increasing social cohesion and access to higher education. Applications for the 2024-25 academic year are open between September 1 – October 6, 2024.
The European Union Scholarships Project is a significant initiative focused on providing equal opportunities for students in Türkiye, particularly those who are pursuing higher education. With a strong commitment to education, social cohesion and employability, the project ensures that gender equality, the inclusion of individuals with disabilities, earthquake victims, the ones who lost their parents and the needs of other vulnerable groups are at the forefront of its mission.
The project operates through a consortium of four key partners: Ankara University, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Marmara Municipalities Union, and the Representation of International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Türkiye. Each partner is responsible for specific provinces, ensuring wide geographical coverage across the country. Through collaboration with universities, municipalities, government institutions, and international and national organizations, the project enhances students' competencies in education, social cohesion, and employment opportunities.
Last year, the project supported 1,287 of students with stipends and tuition assistance. This year applications of scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year will begin on September 1 for both undergraduate and graduate students and the results are planned to be announced as of November 9th, 2024.
