By the end of June 2024, eleven Georgian start-ups were selected for a short-term mobility programme in Belgium. This followed a highly competitive selection process that evaluated sectoral matchmaking potential between the two countries. The call for applications was announced in the framework of the “Strengthening the Partnership between Belgium and Georgia through the Temporary Mobility of Entrepreneurs (EMLINK)” project, implemented by ICMPD.
The selected startups from Georgia will be taking part in the EMLINK Compact Acceleration Course which consists of two chapters, one happening in Georgia and the second one in Belgium. The course will be running from July to November 2024 and includes a 10-day on-site visit to Belgium. The sector-agnostic programme is committed to advancing early-stage, ambitious Georgian start-ups that demonstrate clear potential for international expansion.
Selected start-ups will have the possibility to:
- Develop entrepreneurial capacities and business strategy
- Travel to Belgium and establish valuable contacts
- Get acquainted with the Belgian start-up ecosystem and acceleration possibilities
- Receive additional consultations on access to the acceleration grants
Start-ups participating in the ICMPD EMLINK Compact Acceleration Course represent various industries, that at the same time comply with the Belgian market interests. The selected startups are:

ICMPD EMLINK project is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Belgium and Georgia by designing a pilot temporary mobility model for outstanding entrepreneurs. By promoting the managed mobility of businessmen and women, the initiative is designed to facilitate access to new markets and business opportunities, all while increasing the competitiveness of the private sector, incentivising job creation, and increasing foreign investments. The EMLINK project is funded by the European Union through the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on behalf of Belgium.
