UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University have published a new call for scholarships to participate in the Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) that will take place in Maastricht, in Spring 2025. Applications for 25 scholarships are open until 01 October 2024.
The unique capacity building programme is addressed to civil servants and migration practitioners who are working in migration management in the countries of the EU Southern Neighbourhood, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and Silk Route countries. This collaborative effort is funded by the European Union (EU) through the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
In a nutshell
The MMDP will run on a full-time basis for three months, from 10 March until 28 May 2025 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. With an estimated 40 learning hours per week, it is designed for civil servants and migration practitioners who are working in migration management positioned within their national governance systems to support dialogue and cooperation between the EU and partner countries.
The programme focuses on theoretical knowledge, as well as practical skills such as presentation and formulating a focus on evidence-based policy. Participants benefit from the helpful input of the core teaching team of UNU-MERIT, visiting migration experts in the field, and guest lecturers from well-known international organisations in different countries’ contexts. This programme underscores the commitment of UNU-MERIT, Maastricht University, ICMPD, and the EU to enhance migration management capacities through targeted education and training.
Advantages of participating
Participating professionals will gain valuable insights, new skills and abilities, as well as practical and interactive experiences in applying the latest knowledge in the field of migration management. Moreover, the programme provides a platform to network with professionals from diverse regions, fostering lasting collaborations and partnerships.
Scholarships and eligibility
The courses are offered free of charge to selected participants, with 25 scholarships available. The scholarships will cover all programme costs, including tuition, travel to Maastricht, accommodation, daily stipend, visa costs, field trips, and course materials.
Interested candidates must submit their applications through the online application form by 01 October 2024. Given the competitive nature of the programme, only selected candidates will be contacted.
