The Anti-Trafficking Programme (ATP) of ICMPD held the final event of the regional project “Developing Approaches for Enhancing the Functionality of the National Referral Mechanisms in the MARRI Participants”. The team presented three practical guidelines developed in the framework of the project.
The goal of the event was the presentation of the three project deliverables - practical guidelines containing tools, instructions, and practices to enhance the national referral mechanisms for victims of human trafficking:
- Inclusion of Survivors in the Policy Development Process and the Operational Response to Trafficking in Human Beings.
- Improving the Coordination and Communication among the NRM Actors in MARRI Participants.
- Improving the Participation of Civil Society Organisations in the Referral Mechanisms of MARRI Participants.
ATP experts developed the documents after close consultations with the anti-trafficking stakeholders in the six MARRI Participants and with international partners. During the regional workshop, representatives of all MARRI Participants presented examples from the region to illustrate some of the suggested practices in the three Guidelines.
The project’s follow-up is expected to focus on the practical implementation of some of the practices suggested in the Guidelines.
The project “Developing Approaches for Enhancing the Functionality of the National Referral Mechanisms in the MARRI Participants” is part of the regional project “Preventing and Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans” (PaCT), implemented by MARRI and funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmBH (GIZ).
